I believe that the San Antonio Vocal group intended to show how important religion was to the Spainish and other Europeans that colonized America. The name, Virgen Madre De Dios, means Virgin Mother of God. This song highlights a time in American history when the Spainish ruled most of the United States, and South America. I can definetely see how religious that the song is which hints at the importance of religion to the Spanish missionaries who colonized America
