Song 9: Do Re Me
The song Do Re Me, by Ani DiFranco, also set in Depression-era United States, describes life in California. The story is told from the point of view of a citizen in California, describing how so many people are going to California thinking that they'll have better opportunities there, when in fact, they won't. The song is seemingly also slightly melancholy when describing how not many people will make it in Depression-era California, espicially if those people have just moved there.
