When I was assigned to find an American landscape portrait, I was a little overwhelmed by all the choices that I could have made on the subject. Eventually, I remembered a trip to the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone I made a few years ago, and decided to find a picture that could capture the beautiful region in one photograph. This picture, I think, does this as it shows a clear mountain lake, overlooked by many peaks of the Rockies, as if they were appointed guardians over this lake. This photo represents the raw beauty of nature that still exists in America, and that beauty should be protected for the next generation to see.
